Anna A Devoted Grandmother

What Does the Bible Say About Women

The everyday choice of devotion is echoed in the life of Anna in Honduras. Anna has worked hard all her life to feed her family and even though she is now a grandmother, she still perseveres to lift her family out of poverty including her granddaughter, Diana.

I have recycled cardboard all my life. Since I had to work I had to take Diana with me to recycle. We used to leave in the morning and come back at night. Now it’s dangerous to go later at night. We made around $50 month which we used for food and medicine for Diana.”

Thanks to sponsorship through Compassion, the financial strain on the family has been eased, including managing Dianas ongoing health problems. Anna shares, Now she is supported from Compassion’s RESPOND Medical Fund and gets medicine. Before she used to faint and have headaches every day. But now she’s been doing okay.”

There are so many amazing women in the Bible who inspire us. We pray for these women to be our role models, to encourage us to step out in faith, to be Godly leaders in our spheres of influence.

As that famous saying goes, heres to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.

Color In A Coloring Book

One of the simplest activities can have a profound effect on mental health and well-being. To reduce stress or anxiety, try coloring in a coloring book. You don’t have to be a child to gain other benefits such as improved sleep, vision, and focus. Adult coloring books and crayons are inexpensive, or use a kid’s coloring book if you’d like. The point is to forget about life stresses and focus on something simple.

Strong Women In The Bible ~ 5 Deborah The Judge

Pin by SMP on Truth of Being A Strong Woman

Deborah is the only woman that is mentioned in the book of judges as a judge. In which their sole purpose was:

Then the LORD raised up judges, who saved them out of the hands of these raiders. Judges 2:16

And so Deborah was a judge that was in charge of settling disputes among the Jews and she even prophesied.

Now Deborah, a prophetess, wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time. She would sit under the Date Palm Tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the Ephraimite hill country. The Israelites would come up to her to have their disputes settled. Judges 4:4-5

You see that Deborahs husband is mentioned in the above Bible verse. How about that is the only place that her husband is ever mentioned. In fact, we do not even know what he does for a living which clearly proves he was not the real focus of this whole thing. Furthermore, Deborah foretold of another iconic event in which Jael was going to drive a peg through Siseras head.

As I stated above the judges were set into place by God to protect Israel from raiders. Which is why Barak came to Deborah and asked her to come with him to war. So much so that if Deborah refused the man he was not going to go.

Barak said to her, If you go with me, I will go but if you dont go with me, I wont go. Certainly I will go with you, said Deborah. But because of the course you are taking, the honor will not be yours, for the Lord will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman. Judges 4:8-9

Role Of A Woman In Marriage According To The Bible

Most of the controversy around women in Christianity comes from a misunderstanding of Scriptures command for women to be submissive.

7) Mark 10:8 And they two shall be one flesh: so then they are no more two, but one flesh.

8) Colossians 3:18-19 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

9) Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall join to his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

10) 1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, you husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life that your prayers be not hindered.

11) 1 Corinthians 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

12) Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

13) 1 Peter 3:8 Finally, be you all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brothers, be pitiful, be courteous.

14) Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

15) Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone I will make him an help meet for him.

How Does Someone Submit To A Husband If He Does Bad Things

This question came from my twelve-year-old as I shared with the girls what submitting to your husband looks like. Oh, sweet girl, if you only knew the debate in Southern Baptist circles right now. These were the basic thoughts I shared:

Mamas and daddies, let me encourage you to help your girls walk out this Biblical tension. Help them know that they are precious in the sight of God and they are powerful and important in the kingdom of God. Help them see the places where God calls us to submit to be places of honor and respect, not shackles. Help them to see that submission is for Gods glory and never to enable sin and harm. Help them know that their worth comes from a Creator who adores them more than any husband ever will.

And lets pray for this generation of girls to rise up to serve God in a mighty way.

Empowering Bible Verses For Women

When we read through the word of God, its evident how Jesus feels about women. He created us lovely and strong, to be respected and cherished. When a husband and wife marry, He tells the man to love his woman just the same as Christ loves us and to treat her with the utmost respect and honor. Jesus ultimately set the standard for how women should be treated.

Jesus was and still is a lover of women. You are a daughter of the King and you hold such a special place in His heart. Jesus empowered, protected, honored, confided in, and celebrated women. He respected women and held them in high esteem, as He clearly demonstrated in His relationships with women like Mary Magdalene, Mary his mother, and even the woman at the well. And you, my lovely sister, are to be protected, honored, cherished, and celebrated every single day of your life. Just as Christ has set the standard, so I would encourage you to never settle for less from anyone else on this earth and to fully discover who you are in Him. Embrace who you are in Christ, my sister, and allow your spirit to be encouraged, empowered, and strengthened.

Here are 20 empowering Bible verses that I believe will encourage, empower, and strengthen your spirit

  • God is within her, she will not fall.Psalm 46:5
  • Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.Proverbs 31:30
  • The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears her down.Proverbs 14:1
  • Faith In Our Future And The Future Of All Who Have Died

    Transgender and Christian: Biblical Womanhood?

A womans love for her children is very strong. These women received their dead raised to life again just as Hebrews 11:35 said. In these four cases, women observed their childrens resurrections and by what they and others saw, their faith was strengthened.

How much greater will be the time when all women will receive their dead back to life? This is the promise Jesus gave His disciples, Do not marvel at this for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth .

That is the hope of allthe resurrection from the dead! It takes faith to believe this is going to happen!

    Womens Role In The Church

The Bible also supports the womans right to serve in the church according to her role and gifts.

However, there is no scriptural mandate for women to be given equal roles as men. In 1 Timothy 2:11-12 women are told to learn submissively or hupotage, which means to line up under. This means that women are to learn in subject to those in authority over them. Women are not given roles of authority over men in church leadership. John MacArthur says, Women are to keep quiet in the sense of not teaching, and they are to demonstrate submission by not usurping authority.

Throughout the Bible we can clearly see that the role of authority in the roles of Church leadership was given to men. Even in the Old Testament we can see the roles of the priests and temple leaders was given to men. And in the New Testament the roles for church offices are spoken of in what is clearly the male pronoun. Even in examining church history, women were not allowed to have a role in church leadership until the last century. History books are not inspired and inerrant, they can be instructive.

    41) 1 Timothy 3:11 Women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things.

    43) 1 Timothy 2:11-12 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man she must be quiet.

Women In Leadership: The Only Thing That Matters Is What The Bible Says

When it comes to the issue of women in leadership, I often hear that the only thing that matters is what the Bible says. I completely agree.

What does the Bible say about women in leadership?

To answer this question, people usually jump to the passages that they read as limiting the roles of women. It is critical to understand those passages, but the problem with starting there is that we too often forget about the rest of the Bible. It is not an encyclopedia, where we can simply look up a topic and read a few lines to find our answer. We have to look at the entire Bible, understand the language of the writers, and read each passage in light of its Biblical context, its historical and cultural context, and the over arching message of scripture.

A good place to start is the beginning. When God created humanity he created “the adam,” which is the word used for human. In Genesis 2:18 the NIV translation reads, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

The words, “helper suitable” come from the Hebrew words “ezer kenegdo.” The English translation of “helper suitable” is a bit anemic, and doesn’t reflect the strength of the original Hebrew very well. A better image is of “a strength equal to” or “a savior corresponding to” him. This phrase appears more than 20 times in the Old Testament, and usually refers to God. It is hardly a phrase that would be used to describe someone who was designed to be subordinate, or simply a helper.

You Must Put On Gods Full Armor So That You May Stand Firm Against The Enemy

    A. Standing firm against the enemy is the result of putting on Gods full armor.

Stand is a key word in this section. He repeats it in verses 11, 13, and 14. Also, the word resist comes from a Greek compound word from the root, to stand, meaning literally to stand against. Its a military term for holding on to a position that is under attack. It implies the courage to hold your ground because of your allegiance to King Jesus, even when others may be fleeing from the battle because the enemy seems so strong.

An incident about one of Davids mighty men, Shammah the son of Agee, illustrates standing firm in the battle : And the Philistines were gathered into a troop where there was a plot of ground full of lentils, and the people fled from the Philistines. But he took his stand in the midst of the plot, defended it and struck the Philistines and the Lord brought about a great victory. Because of his allegiance to David, Shammah stood firm and he fought, but the Lord brought the victory.

Many have suggested that Paul got the idea of putting on the full armor of God from the Roman soldier that was chained to him as he dictated this letter. That may be, but it also may be that he was meditating on Isaiah 11:5, which says of the Lord, Righteousness will be the belt about His loins, and faithfulness the belt about His waist. Or, Isaiah 59:17, He put on righteousness like a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on His head.

What Is A God Fearing Woman

In Proverbs 31, the author King Lemuel writes that above all, a woman of good character is a God fearing woman .

A God fearing woman is a woman who understand Gods holiness and righteousness.

She knows who God is and more importantly, that she falls short of the perfect standard. Tainted by sin and neither holy nor righteous, she knows that she needs Jesus in order to dwell and abide with God.

She attributes reverence and honor to God and knows in her heart that only because of Gods grace and love can she enter the family of God. Her fear of the Lord manifests as reverence and respect for God. Because of that, she lives a life of gratitude and wants to use her life to give God the glory He deserves.

The importance of the fear of the Lord is repeated throughout scripture. In the first chapter of Proverbs, Solomon writes that the beginning of wisdom is fear of the Lord. He continues to drive that point home in Proverbs and the other books that he wrote. Its no surprise that Solomons father, David, also spoke often of fear of the Lord in Psalms.

Here are few Bible verses that capture the essence of God fearing men and women.
